Hi, everyone! I'm Indy and this is my autobiography in words and pictures - straight from the horse's mouth. I hope you enjoy it.
I was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, near Manistique, on May 28, 1998. My "real" name is VS Golden Desperado. The VS is for Valley Stables, and the Desperado is after my dad, Amberfields Desperado.
Right from the start though everyone called me "Indy" partly because the Indy 500 was run that weekend, and partly because I was born so fast and always seemed as inquisitive and adventurous as Indiana Jones!
As a baby I had lots of fun romping with my mom, Dawn. As you can see, when I was very young I was as light as my dad.
Here I am with Brenda at my very first show. It was a Conformation Class for weanlings.
I won! I got the blue ribbon!
Then something pretty strange happened. I changed color when I shed out! Mom said she could hardly believe it.
As you can see in this picture of me at 4 months, I got a lot darker.
I'm still a Palomino, but they call me a Chocolate Palomino now. Every one seems to think I'm quite handsome.
As time went on, I filled out and grew taller. This is me at one year. I was still carefree and romping with Mom and the others.
Here I am at 2 years and really muddy! What fun! Even with all the mud, you can see how light I am. That seems to be my pattern - a chocolate palomino in the summer, a taffy palomino in the winter with spring and fall being anything in between!
Another picture of me at 2 with a buddy of mine. Somehow, she seemed more interesting these days, but I wasn't sure why. Hmmmm.......
Here I am at three, still romping and playing. But somehow I seemed to sense that changes were coming - soon.
